It has been suggested to me multiple times to make videos of my work, and it’s not that I didn’t want to do it – rather, there was some kind of a block that just wouldn’t budge. Well, somehow, back in August it all fell apart and I just jumped right into filming, all excited to finally do it. I’ve gotten so unblocked in the process that I didn’t mind recording my voice for narration, since text-to-speech just didn’t seem right or authentic – yet I never liked the way my voice sounds on a recording. And now, I am not at all bothered by it – it’s fine!
Here’s the video:
For anyone interested in creating this bag without going through the process of recreating all of the 2D and 3D assets, I’ve made the files for 2D printing (2 PDFs) and 3D printing (stls and 3mfs) available for download here. The 3D models should be in correct orientation. To clarify, I did not mirror the FPP blocks originally, so the orientation of the triangles in the completed patchwork is in the opposite direction compared to the original design (because the sewing is done on the back side of the printed FPP blocks, hence they’re flipped or mirrored), and since the 3D printed elements are derived from the original design, they had to be mirrored to match the orientation of the patchwork. But if you use the files as provided, you don’t need to worry about this.
I prefer to make the files and the video available to all for free, rather than selling on Etsy, Thangs or similar marketplace, however I would be very grateful for any tip you’re able and willing to send me, it will be much, much appreciated, thank you!
